Welcome to the Grow with Laura podcast, where we talk about building income online as a beginner without confusion, pressure, or pretending to have it all figured out. My name is Laura, and this podcast is for digital beginners who are curious about online business, digital marketing, and using social media as a tool to build something meaningful. If you are learning, exploring, or trying to find your footing in this space, you are in the right place. In the last episode, we talked about TikTok and how fast-paced visibility can help you grow quickly. Today we're slowing things down and talking about podcasting and why your voice can create a completely different level of connection. So let's get right into it. Okay, let's start with this. Podcasting is not about speed, which is so funny since I just cruised through that first bit, right? But no, seriously, it is about depth. And that is what makes it powerful. On platforms like TikTok and Instagram, people see you for seconds if you're lucky. Maybe they might view your thing for four seconds. Because they say, you know, like in Instagram, they say you need four seconds to hook the client, and if not, they're scrolling, right? But with a podcast, people are probably listening to you as they're driving or something, so they have more time for you to get your story out, right? So on a like I said, on a podcast, people stay on, you know, with with you for minutes, sometimes even longer, right? I try to keep my podcast within five to ten minutes, right? Mostly, right? Sometimes even longer. And that changes everything. Because when someone listens to you speak, um, they hear your tone, your pace, your intention, they begin to understand you, not just your content. And that builds trust faster than most people realize. Podcasting gives you space, space to explain, space to teach, space to be real. Like I find that when I'm doing podcasting, it's actually therapeutic for me. I'm going through stuff in my personal life, and then just coming and talking here is really good. It's like I have this audience that I can't see, but I can feel, you know. So I'm not trying to fit everything in into 30 seconds, right? You're guiding someone through a thought, and that is where authority starts to build, right? Authority, authority is not dictatorship. Let's not think about it that way. Authority is that you have the audacity, if I might use that phrase, to speak, because you have gone through the experience, good or bad, right? So, because when someone listens to you consistently, they begin to see you as someone who understands what they are talking about, right? I had there's this lady that I spoke to. Um this was I think about a week, anyway, it doesn't matter when I spoke to her, but there was this lady I spoke to. Oh my god, the sweetest, sweetest, sweetest lady. And uh she, you know, trying to work with her on something to coach her on something. And she says she listens to my podcast every day. And it just melted my heart. Like I know, I mean, people listen to people's podcasts every day, but the fact that she consistently listened to my podcast and she mentioned how in March she didn't hear anything, and that also broke my heart too, because I was dealing with my own stuff and I couldn't show up for that. But the point I'm trying to make is that you're building a that's a relationship right there, okay? So that's very important, right? I mean, like, you know, like I emphasized earlier on when someone listens to you consistently, they begin to see you as someone who understands what they are talking about, understands what they are going through too, right? And not because you are perfect, not because you are clear. And here's something important: you do not need to be an expert to start a podcast. You know I'm far from an expert, but I did start my podcast. It was a battle, but I got here, right? You need to be a few steps ahead and willing to share what you are learning, what you know. That is it. Okay, because your audience is not looking for perfection. I mean, who is perfect? Are you Jesus Christ? Like, they are looking for guidance. Now, let's talk about growth. Podcasting is slower compared to TikTok, no doubt. You may not see immediate results, uh, you may not see big numbers right away, but what you build is stronger. The people who listen stay. The people who stay trust, and the people who trust take action. So think about this. I'll say this one more time. What you build is stronger. The people who listen stay. The people who stay trust, and the people who trust take action. That it's just as simple as that. So while you know it may feel slower, it is deeper. Look at this lady telling me she missed me in March because she listens to my podcast every single day. Right? So, like I said, it might feel slower, but it is deeper. And deeper connection leads to stronger results over time. Now, here is where podcasting fits into your system. Your podcast becomes a place where you expand on your ideas, your social media brings people in, your podcast builds trust, and your system guides them forward. Everything connects. Now, one more thing I want to say. Your voice matters more than you think. Not because it is perfect, but because it is yours. This is my voice, it belongs to me, Laura, right? And there are people who will connect with the way you explain things, the way you think, the way you share. And those are your people. So I know I have my people, right? So if you have been thinking about starting a podcast, but holding back because you feel like you are not ready, this is your reminder. You do not need to be ready, you need to be willing. Okay? Again, we don't rush things, right? You should start a podcast, no doubt. But make sure that whichever other platform that you're on, you're consistent, you're consistent there. Sorry, I said consistent. You're consistent there, you've grasped it. You don't want to overwhelm. This is the thing. You don't want to overwhelm yourself, you don't want to feel overwhelmed, you want to take one thing at a time. But once that's done, you're good. Tried the podcasting. It's it's really a great place to be. Okay. Now, in the next episode, we are going to make this very practical. I'm going to walk you through exactly how to set up your podcast, the tools you can use, how to plan your content, and how to batch create so it actually fits into your life.
