Welcome to the Grove with Laura Podcast where we talk about building income online as a beginner without confusion, pressure, or pretending to have it all figured out. My name is Laura and this podcast is for digital beginners who are curious about online business, digital marketing, and using social media as a tool to build something meaningful. If you are learning, exploring, or trying to find your footing in this space, you are in the right place. In the last episode, we talked about choosing your platform and why you only need to focus on one to start. Today we are starting with Instagram and more importantly, what Instagram is actually for beyond just posting content. So let's get right into it. Okay, so let's clear something up right away. Instagram is not just about posting, it is about positioning, it is about connection, and it is about clarity. Okay? Because when someone lands on your page, you have a few seconds to answer very important questions in their mind. And if those questions are not answered clearly, they leave, they scroll, they move on, right? So what should someone immediately understand when they land on your page? There are a few key things. First, who are you helping? They should be able to look at your page and quickly say, Hey, yeah, that's me. This is for me. Not guess. Not try to figure it out. It should be clear. Second, what problem you are helping them solve? What are they struggling with? What are they trying to figure out? What are they frustrated by? Your page should reflect that. Because when someone feels seen, they stay. Third, what solution you are offering? How are you going to help them move forward? What are you guiding them towards? This does not have to be complicated, right? But it does need to be clear. And fourth, why should they trust you? Right? Why should why they should trust you? Why? Why should they trust you? This is where your authority comes in. And I want to simplify this because authority does not mean you have to be an expert with you know 100 years of experience. Authority can come from your journey. Right? I keep on talking about my experiences, and that's where the bulk of my authority comes from. My experiences, negative, good, bad, ugly, whatever, right? Because I can tap from that and share with you. I used to say this to my kids, I still say it all the time. If I cannot be an example to you, let me be a warning. I've already gone through it, so you don't have to go through it, right? So authority can come from your journey. It can come from what you have learned, what you are building, what you are actively doing. It can come from your results as well, right? People trust people who are honest, consistent, and a few steps ahead. So your page should reflect that through your content, through your messaging, and even through small proof points. That could be your experience, like I said, your progress, your results, and even your own perspective. Now, when these pieces come together, something powerful happens. It's like magic, right? Your page stops feeling random, it starts feeling intentional, and that is what builds trust. Now, let's take something else that is very important on Instagram. Engagement. Right? Because a lot of people focus only on posting, but posting is only one part of it, and it takes a lot of work. Trust me, you guys go onto my page and see it takes a lot of work. I'm still working on it, so I can't even confidently tell you, or I can't even in good in good faith tell you that it's easy. It's not, it is a lot of work, right? But you have to be consistent. So whether I get one view or I get a hundred views or I get a thousand views, I'm still going to be consistent and keep getting my message across. And that's what I want you to do, right? And before you know what's happening, engagement and all those things will start to happen. Engagement is what tells Instagram that your content matters. When people like, comment, share, or save your content, it signals that you are providing value, and that is what helps your content reach more people, right? But engagement is not just about the algorithm, it's about connection, right? Like I see some difference on my page too. I abandoned my page, and that's story for another day. Hopefully, down the road I'll talk to that to you about that, right? Because I abandoned it, I was overwhelmed and I left. So the algorithm is probably thinking to myself, well, this lady can't be too serious. So now I'm back. I have to work 10 times harder. Right? But with time, it will pay off. So, like I said, engagement is not just about the algorithm. I mean, it's about connection. When someone comments and you respond, when someone sends a message and you reply, you are building relationships, and that is where real growth happens. So there's a lot going on behind the scenes, right? But you have to first have the engagement, right? So, not just in numbers, I mean the growth, there's like I said, there's a lot growing up going on uh happening, things are happening, right? Not just in numbers, but in trust. Now let's talk about consistency because consistency is important, but it needs to be realistic. You do not need to post every single day if that is going to lead to burnout. You can choose a pace that you can maintain. That could be three times a week, it could be four times a week, it could be seven times a week, as long as you can maintain it. What matters is that you can sustain it. But consistency builds familiarity, and familiarity builds trust. So when you combine all of this, clear positioning, strong messaging, intentional content, engagement, and consistency, Instagram stops being confusing. It becomes a tool, a tool that helps you connect, build trust, and guide people towards what you offer. In the next episode, I am going to share my personal experience with Instagram, the mistakes I made, and what I would do differently if I were starting again. Thank you so much for spending this time with me. If this episode resonated with you, I would love to stay connected. Don't forget to hit subscribe and leave a review.
